he International Vedic Workshop is the most prominent conference of Indologists involved in the study of the Vedas. It was started in 1989 by Prof. Michael Witzel, and has since then been reiterated by a number of scholars all over the world.
The Workshop invites philological and field work related to the Vedas and their traditions, and more specifically:
- Vedic texts (from Saṃhitās to Upaniṣads), their language, structure and history
- Vedic schools (śākhās)
- Living Vedic traditions in India and Nepal
- Vedic rituals
- Ancient and modern scholarly interpretation of Vedic texts
- Ancillary disciplines (vedāṅgas)
